I have been OBSESSED with Amangiri for years and have always dreamed of going. My dad just turned 60, and instead of having a party, he wanted to bring us along to Amangiri - and it was an actual dream. The location is isolated, and the scenery was stunning. When we pulled in, we were greeted by the staff with refreshing towels, sage lemonade (the hotels signature scent is sage) and we were taken on a tour of the hotel. Every corner of the property was beautiful. It was so quiet, and the only sounds were of the leaves in the wind and the water in the epic pool.
After checking in and getting settled into the room, my sister and I decided to explore the grounds and the spa. We had the outdoor pool to ourselves, the moon was full and it was so peaceful. That night for dinner we ate by the pool and dined on some seriously tasty food and wine.
The next morning started with breakfast by the pool, green juices, and strong coffee. We embarked on our first adventure of the trip - a three-hour tour of the slot canyons which were unbelievable and definitely a highlight. If you ever get the chance to visit - the canyons are an absolute must. After the canyons, I had a lymphatic drainage massage in the super dreamy spa. I LOVED the massage and can’t wait to try lymphatic drainage again. After the spa I sat out by our fire place, sipped on a glass of rose and read my book - so so happy. One of my favorite things about Amangiri was the architecture and the thoughtfulness of the design, so if you are able to visit don’t forget to just enjoy the hotel and take it all in.
Our final celebration dinner was meant to take place at the Chinle site out in the desert, but it was so windy we had to stay inside. We sipped champagne and ate some fancy barbecue-style food. Berry cobbler and birthday cake for dessert followed by s’ mores and stargazing - yes, please! I was SO sad to go, but I had the most fantastic, relaxing, spiritual time. Relaxing and enjoying the property along with the slot canyons were highlights for me, and hopefully one day I can go back to Amangiri or try another Aman property - realistically will have to wait for another parent to turn a significant age (Mom I’m looking at you!)
