If you know me, you know that I am a die hard Barefoot Contessa fan. The ultimate day of relaxation for me begins with a cup of coffee and an episode of Barefoot! After the world cup win yesterday, I was inspired to cook up something French! I think most people are instantly overwhelmed when they think about cooking French food, but I decided to keep it super simple with a few of Ina's French recipes!
- I loved this recipe, and it was pretty easy to create! If you love grilled cheese and cubano's this will be a hit. The cheesy sauce and crispy ham made this croque the ultimate comfort dish! I used fresh sourdough bread instead of white which the recipe calls for, and it was absolutely delish!
- I LOVE a simple green salad but usually just throw on a dressing of oil, salt and pepper. Ina's vinagrette added eleavted these greens and made it the perfect side salad for my Croque Monsieur!
- You cant go wrong with goat cheese, but I actually somehow managed to mess this up! The recipe has you cut a log of goat cheese, coat it in egg and then dip in breadcrumbs. The goat cheese slices are supposed to get crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, but mine ended up a little too gooey and just fell apart in the pan. Ultimately, it tasted delicious because I just mixed the cheese into the salad, but this one was a little bit of a fail!
EASY + DELICIOUS!
